Congress Leader seeks subsidized Metro fare

According to sources from New Delhi Congress leader Ajay Maken had moved Delhi high court seeking a subsidized metro fare and release of public funds for better transport. Meanwhile a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar, however, pointed out that HC is already seized of petitions with similar demands.

Recently HC told the petitioner that it is examining issues of augmenting the DTC bus fleet in a time-bound manner and improving other public transport, including Delhi Metro and Northern Railway. On the other hand, The pollution has reached some unbelievable heights and it’s just getting worse in Delhi.

Moreover the court agreed to give time to Maken and listed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) for a later date when it will examine if the plea can be entertained.
